Frostlord

A size comparison between an average human and a frostlord, an alien native to the planet-moon Tiera. Despite having never advanced beyond stone age, the frostlords are one of the very few intelligent species found in human-settled space. They are large, white-furred carnivores with four eyes, eight prehensile legs, a single curved horn and a hard, bony beak full of sharp teeth. They are well-adapted to the harsh conditions of Tiera's northernmost regions, leading a nomadic existence as small tribal units. They are rather long-lived, with lifespans of up to 200 years.

The frostlords are mostly unaggressive when it comes to humans. They have limited contact with Tiera's native human population -  themselves a medieval civilization - but some tribes have learned human language and occasionally barter with the northern city-states and their wizard-lords. The frostlords have also been rather hospitable with the interstellar human explorers who have been sending landing parties to Tiera for the past three centuries. Xenopsychologists have described them as "inscrutable", as the frostlords often talk in highly metaphysical terms yet do not (apparently) have any form of religion or superstitions. They seem to revere Evermind, the ancient Jupiter Brain Tiera orbits, but have made it clear that, unlike the native humans, they do not think of it as a god.
