Firestorm Class Missile Cruiser

Description

The Firestorm Class Missile Cruiser is the workhorse of the Harmonic Federation's Space Fleet. An incredibly compact and heavily armed interstellar warship, the Firestorm's main armament consists of a pair of massive missile launcher pods on either side of the ship. Secondary armament consists of four twin-barreled railgun turrets and over 120 combat drones. For defense, the Firestorm Class employs six high-powered, automated laser turrets and an advanced nanotechnological self-repair system. It's greatest weakness is relative lack of armor, a sacrifice made in favor of greater combat acceleration.

Firestorm Class is often used as an escort ship for larger vessels, like the Order Class Battleship and the Omega Class Attack Carrier. They are fully capable of operating on their own, however, and often patrol independent star systems near Federation space either alone or as the centerpiece of a small fleet of torchships.

The shape reminds me of the Cheyenne dropship from Aliens, only over two kilometers long.

Damn dude, you inspire me to ease up a little bit on my own ships' "realistic" sizes of trying to be, for the most part, under a kilometer long. Because huge-ass capital ships are awesome.
